Sid admits to hitting Owen to the police. Adam loses his temper with Brian when he won’t let Ruairi stay at Honeysuckle Cottage to give Jennifer a break.
Radio Times: Brian’s prejudice comes to the fore.
Characters: Adam, DS Collins, Jennifer, Mike, Sid, Wendy- Jennifer is still upset that Alice is going away without taking any money. And she’s planning her 19th birthday without them too. She is proud she is independent but wishes it wasn’t like this. Brian is still sulking though. Jennifer knows he is desperate for a compromise with Alice and it is really winding her up. Adam thinks she needs a break for a few days.
- Sid goes to make his statement to the police. He says he never doubted that it was true although the police seem a little unsure about whether she made it up because Sid was cross. He then has to explain that he spoke to Owen. When he admits he threatened him the police are less than impressed. Then he explains that Owen had said Kathy was asking for it and that he hit him. He had it coming.
- Wendy has made her plans for the theatre evening – The Cherry Orchard by Chekhov. She described it as written as a comedy so Mike is thrilled! And he doesn’t seem to understand it a lot more while he is watching it.
- Later Adam suggests taking Ruairi for a break at Honeysuckle Cottage but when Brian is clearly uncomfortable about having Adam and Ian look after him, Adam loses his temper too – it should be Jennifer who is Brian’s priority and his bigotry is stopping that.
