Susan attempts to find some answers. Hayley has a talk with Elizabeth about Roy.

Radio Times: Susan is in gossip mode, and Elizabeth gets a visitor.

Characters: Adam, Charlie, Ed, Elizabeth, Hayley, Susan

• Hayley calls Elizabeth to arrange for an urgent meeting concerning Roy. Elizabeth tries to escape but Hayley insists.
• Susan, now an expert tweeter, tries to convince Adam to join Twitter. She then hopes to get some inside information about John Tregorran and Jennifer but Adam abruptly leaves the shop before Susan can ask about her invitation to the party. Susan then tries to discuss Adam’s reaction with Elizabeth who also makes a quick escape.
• Charlie wants a busy Adam to put together a paper on the first failed digester project. Adam refuses and points out that it isn’t in his job description. Charlie makes some vague threats about Adam not being capable.
• The indefatigable Susan next interrogates Hayley about her invite from Jennifer. Susan turns her investigative zeal to her other favourite topic – John Tregorran. A confused Hayley relates only complimentary generalities about John and his wife, much to Susan’s disappointment.
• Ed makes a few sharp remarks about Charlie. Adam admits that Charlie knows his business but he keeps increasing his demands on Adam. Ed expresses regrets for not having gone to college and worries about his ability to support his family.
• After an awkward start, Hayley tells Elizabeth that Roy is too stressed from Loxfest and the job. Hayley says that Roy does not know she is talking to Elizabeth but that Roy’s overwork is affecting their family. Elizabeth promises to make things better and Hayley is relieved. Roy thinks the world of Elizabeth, Hayley notes, and would do anything she asks. An uncomfortable Elizabeth promises to sort something out.
