Radio Times: Brian remembers how the other half live.

Characters: , , , , ,
  • Brian is feeling his age as he struggles with the night’s lambing. He swears he will never let Adam off the farm during lambing again. Jennifer lends a hand, but is too full of Kate’s news to take notice of Brian’s moans.
  • Someone else is suffering from lack of sleep. Jill has been lying awake since the early hours, fretting over Ruth and David. Pip has told her that David spends every evening in the workshop, and Jill hates the atmosphere between them. Phil thinks he’ll tag along to the farm sale, and see if David will talk to him, but he’s not hopeful
  • With George spending the morning with Will, Emma’s at a loose end, so comes to the shop to help Susan. Jill calls in with a card advertising the job at Brookfield, and Susan is convinced it is just made for Emma. Emma is less convinced, and gives her mother a resounding no.
  • Brian falls asleep in the office, and is woken by Jenny, who wants to look at Ian’s blog. Since Brian is too busy to fix the shower, Jenny suggests asking Robert, and Brian’s relieved to have one less job. Roy has complained that Kate didn’t tell him about the baby before she told Phoebe, which Jenny finds incomprehensible. For once, Brian seems remarkably sensitive, and remarks that it could be because Roy and Hayley would like a baby. Jenny is amazed – it never occurred to her.
  • Susan won’t give up, and nags away at Emma. The job would be interesting, George could play with the toys there and it would pay well. Eventually she wears Emma down. It seems that her career ideas will have to wait. Meanwhile she’ll just have to settle for skivvying and childminding.
