The future’s bright for Bartleby and Gem, and Harrison asserts himself.
Radio Times: Shula thinks she has the answer, and Harrison has a tough decision.
Characters: Alistair, Eddie, Harrison, Joe, Shula- Shula and Alistair introduce Bartleby and Gem to one another and early indicators are not good so they separate the two again. Eddie later joins them and they express their disappointment that the introduction did not go well. At least they tried.
- Harrison is rallying the troops as he’s already had a few cancellations for this evening’s nets practice. The women need some decent opposition and Alistair promises to try to rearrange a meeting he had planned, much to Harrison’s gratitude.
- Eddie has done a good job of spiriting Joe away and is taking him to see Neville Booth, which Joe is not thrilled about, having been previously ripped off by him. Harrison later picks up Joe trudging home down the lanes as he beat a hasty exit from Neville who was cheating him at cribbage.
- Freddie has passed his driving theory test and Lily has failed. At nets practice, Lily is under par and Alistair explains to Harrison the reason why, after her disappointment today. Harrison has to field Sunday’s team and is struggling: should he reward commitment over experience?
- When Harrison drops Joe back at Grange farm, Joe observes Bartleby and Gem getting along famously in the meadow. Somehow they have found their way to one another and Joe is cheered by the sight. Joe dips into his savings to buy Alistair, Shula and Anisha a celebratory drink, but Eddie raises a concern. If Gem is to stay at Grange Farm, how will the Grundy’s afford her keep? Happy to see how Bartleby has picked up and with Shula’s fondness for Gem, Alistair agrees to cover any future costs.
