  • It’s the day of the embryo transfer. Jennifer phones Adam to wish him well. He, Ian and Lexi must relax in order to give the embryo the best chance. Adam asks after Brian. Apparently, he had to be driven home by Alice after consuming more wine than was good for him. He spent the night in the spare bedroom. Anyway, Adam mustn’t worry about such things, but must go and find Ian, says Jennifer.
  • At the clinic, Lexi explains that she’s been in touch with her mother, who still feels awkward about how she will explain her daughter’s pregnancy to her relatives. Ian mentions yet again how both he and Adam are so grateful for what she’s doing. Lexi points out the odds of a successful outcome. As Adam says, they are still in nature’s hands. Just then, they are all called through.
  • Jennifer finds Brian mooching through the office looking for some papers. She suggests that he wait for Adam, he’ll be back in the afternoon. He pointedly asks where he is; his wife explains. Ruairi is going over to Brookfield at lunchtime. Brian insists that he should drive him, not Jennifer. At the clinic, Ian is overwhelmed by seeing their embryo on a monitor. He wonders what the child will look like, who will he or she take after. Lexi brings them back down to earth, their job won’t start for another nine months if it all gets that far.
  • Ruth is surprised to see Brian at Brookfield. After some awkward moments, she asks how he’s getting on now that his retirement’s public knowledge. His reply is oddly positive. At least it gives him chance to visit and enjoy coffee… hint hint. At Home Farm, Adam tells his mother about the procedure. Lexi’s having lunch with Roy. The subject of Brian looking for documents comes up. Adam reckons that instead of hiding in The Bull, Brian needs to attend to the here and now. All Brian says is that he’ll update the partners as and when he’s ready. Adam wonders what his game is. Jennifer reckons that no matter what, his first love will always be the farm.
  • Ruth admits to Brian that Jill is bewildered by Shula’s marriage breakdown. Brian too is taken aback, one never knows what goes on behind closed doors. Who would have thought that Jennifer would have voted against him? Ruth says that as Ruairi’s attorney she really had no choice to vote as she did. Brian understands, in fact, he sees distinct benefits. He’s growing much closer to Ruairi He’s sure that his son has a rosy future ahead of him… who knows just how things will turn out?
