Tony gambles away the flat to Neil. But Susan and Helen demand the deal be broken.

Radio Times: The fate of the flat is decided.

Characters: , , , , ,
  • Mike rushes to finish his pint, knowing Neil will be in soon to replenish him. Neil arrives, closely followed by Tony. Neil tells him Christopher wants the flat. No, Helen’s having it. Whilst they argue, Mike goes to get the drinks but tells Jolene the news. She leaves the bar to stick in Fallon’s oar. Neil pressures Tony, through slights like nepotism, to have Mike draw beer mats to choose between the three of them. Christopher wins. Neil goes home to tell him. Tony leaves, upset for Helen. An annoyed Jolene tells Mike he can buy his own pint after losing Fallon the flat.
  • Neil arrives back before Christopher, and tells Susan the good news. The mistress of the house isn’t happy as they hadn’t decided about Christopher leaving. Just then, Chris crashes through the front door, very drunk, and is put to bed by Susan. She makes it very clear to Neil that tomorrow he’ll find Tony and tell him they’ve changed their mind; Christopher doesn’t want the flat. Christopher doesn’t have to find out. She’s not having him turn the flat into a pig sty and upsetting her customers.
  • A sheepish Tony realises he’s done the wrong thing but has to suffer the wrath of Helen anyway. That flat was a whole new start for her. Dad’s going to have to tell Neil he’s made a mistake. But we made a deal, and he’s a friend, pleads Tony. Helen doesn’t care. Tomorrow Tony must tell Neil the flat’s Helen’s.
