Vicky and Ed argue over her daft ideas for the “scrub calves”. She wouldn’t trust him to run a pets’ corner.

Radio Times: Things get heated at Grange Farm and Jazzer makes himself at home.

Characters: , , , , ,
  • Jazzer moves in to Harry’s box room, grumbling all the way. Harry’s determined to look on the bright side, even when Jazzer puts his overalls in the bath to soak.
  • Peggy gets to grips with search engines, under Harry’s tuition. She’s just about to search for an American GI she’s lost contact with when Jazzer interrupts.
  • Vicky arrives to tell Ed she’s failed to sell the veal. Mike offers to stay but Vicky says no, she knows what she’s going to say. It goes badly. Vicky has yet more ideas: keep one or two back to give Ian the best cuts. No, not worth it, what would we do with the rest of it? How about keeping them all until they are bulls and then selling them as breeders? Not everyone uses AI. By this point Ed’s losing his temper. They don’t have proven genetics; they’re “scrub calves”, not fit for anything. Vicky then says it’s all Ed’s fault and veal would have worked if he’d been behind it, only the lack of continuity of supply scuppered her efforts.
  • It ends with Vicky demanding a detailed invoice for the money she owed Ed, saying she wouldn’t trust him to run a pets’ corner. Mike’s stunned when he hears and tries to calm Vicky down, no doubt knowing how daft her other ideas were. Vicky’s insistent, a detailed invoice and an apology is required.
