What’s in a name?
Radio Times: What’s in a name?
Characters: Betty, Brian, Jack, Jennifer, Kate, Mike, Roy- Mike’s concerned about what they’ve let themselves in for at Baby’s naming ceremony this evening and Betty’s still worried about whether she’ll get paid for helping Jennifer out with the shoot’s catering, in the end, her fears are groundless, without actually asking, Brian says that she’ll get the “going rate”.
- Jennifer’s worried too, about Sir Sidney’s donation but Jack’s not going to do anything about it, if Sir Sidney wrote a cheque for the new church bells then the Millennium Wood is out of luck. Besides, he’s worried about the fashion show choreography, until Kate suggests that he panders to Julia’s vanity and rather than choose between her and Lynda, point out to her that, as choreographer, she wouldn’t be able to perform and they would so miss someone of her style, elegance and poise.
- The naming ceremony kicks off with Jennifer reading a poem, then the four grandparents place sheafs of wheat in a basket to symbolise strong growth. Roy rolls up just in time with a silver cup as a gift. Kate’s touched and offers him the chance to read the name and join with her in being the first to call the baby by it’s newly given title (she even uses the phrase “our daughter”), and so firstly her parents, then the rest of the people present welcome the newest member to Ambridge: Phoebe Aldridge.
