Will has found out that Harrison lied about Darrington Cricket Team suggesting a merger and says he will have to resign.

Radio Times: Harrison’s scheme is uncovered

Characters: , , , , ,
  • Fallon is still obsessed with looking at property while Harrison’s focus is on the missing Will. Rex has heard from Bert that he is around in Ambridge but clearly not intending to turn up for Cricket. Harrison isn’t prepared to take the field with 10 players so calls Lily.
  • Justin and Lilian are having a restful time. She thinks they are going to be spending the afternoon together but he is thinking about dropping in on the cricket – if it is safe. He feels like rather a pariah just now though Lilian thinks that is now behind them.
  • At tea, the cricket team is doing reasonably well with Lily available. Will must just be sulking for not being picked last week. Then during tea, Will does turn up, but not to play. He wants to talk to everyone in the pavilion. He discloses Harrison’s lie about Darrington wanting to merge with Ambridge. Harrison clearly only did it to get women on the team. Harrison tries to explain himself – it was the only way to save the team. Will just shouts and moans even when Rex tries to calm him down. Harrison Burns is not only a dishonest cricket captain, he’s a dishonest police officer.
  • Justin isn’t happy at the cricket. Neville Booth has been making rude remarks about vandals wrecking the countryside. And Tony wasn’t particularly effusive and Tom didn’t come over. Lilian says he is making too much of it.
  • Ambridge wins, but very few of the team turn up to celebrate in The Bull afterwards. Rex offers to talk to Will to try to calm him down. Meantime, Fallon is still only focused on buying a house – she can’t see how they can even make the deposit. Maybe Emma is right that it’s only a pipe dream. Lilian and Justin are also resting in The Bull. Tom comes over to say it doesn’t matter what Pat said the other day didn’t speak for him. He may have come out of the deal the worse but it was just business and he’d probably have done the same. No hard feelings.
  • When Rex talks to Will he gets nowhere. Will even tells Rex the only reason he is supporting Harrison is because his “girlfriend” is on the team. Rex tells him it is nonsense, Harrison is working really hard to keep the team going. Will insists that Harrison will have to resign.
