Alan agrees he’s too ill to continue. Jill again avoids lingering at Brookfield.

Radio Times: Jill and Usha join forces.

  • Alan’s pitched up on Jill’s lawn, coughing heavily. She visits Brookfield to find out how news of Phil’s legacy to maintain the playground was met at last night’s parish council meeting. She’d forgotten he’d put it in his will ten years ago, when David and Elizabeth had fallen out over the farm. Jill helps sorts out an argument between Josh, who’d sneaked into Pip’s room to steal her mousse, and Pip, but declines an invite to stay for tea or supper.
  • Josh and Jamie plan to be Jedward at the talent contest, hence the hair mousse; what one will do for a football ticket. Pip scornfully points out they need gel, not mousse. Besides, they can’t sing. They probably can’t dance either. They could go a long way.
  • David suggests to Pip that Gran’s never here, despite needing their support, because the atmosphere is terrible. Pip retorts that using Gran to blackmail her is low; David is the one creating the upset and should look at himself.
  • Jill returns and demands Alan comes into the house for some hot stew; she still cooks for two. Then Usha arrives, at Jill’s invite, and together they insist Alan stops spending nights under canvas. Usha will try and get him an appointment with the doctor tomorrow.
