Alistair wins the Captaincy of the cricket team when Jim forces Robert to use his casting vote.

Radio Times: Jim gets the casting vote at the AGM.

Characters: , , , , , ,
  • Shula and Alistair are still suffering from more attention from Jim than they’d like and he is engaging in competitive Grandparenting with Phil. Peggy has managed to get out for a while but she is clearly exhausted with Jack. She even forgot to send Jill a birthday card. Even standing to have a chat is a luxury for her these days.
  • Jim’s Riley has broken down near Felpersham – the first of many Shula expects but it means Jim will miss the beginning of the cricket AGM. He is rather elusive over how he will vote. Turns out the mechanic who recovers him is a member of the Sealed Knot which causes a few winces when he reports that to Shula and Alistair.
  • Alistair is nervous about the vote as it is but in the end Jim arrives at the last moment to save the day and force Robert to use his casting vote in favour of Alistair – but he manages to make it backhanded compliment by saying Alistair has a lot to learn from Adam. But Alistair owes him one now and Jim isn’t going to let him forget it.
