  • The atmosphere between Ian and Adam is distinctly frosty. Adam does his best to make amends, suggesting a holiday, but all Ian can think of is Helen’s battle for custody of her children. He storms off to work.
  • With a certain lack of sensitivity, Caroline waxes lyrical about Tuscan villas, but all Oliver can think of is Joe and his need to see out his days at Grange Farm. Caroline brushes this aside; they must sell Grange Farm to buy the villa of their dreams. Joe is not their responsibility.
  • Eddie does his best to cheer Joe, but in vain. Joe hates seeing the family packing up to move. Eddie is more worried that Will might have changed his mind about 1 The Green since the poaching episode. At that moment Will arrives in attempt to cheer his grandfather. George is off school, though does not appear unduly unwell. He wants to come with Will to see the birds. It was such fun when Grandad took him foraging… Will explodes in anger.
  • Justin and Lilian enjoy lunch at Grey Gables. Tentatively, Lilian asks about Rob’s position as manager following the revelations at the trial, and without committing himself, Justin admits that he may need to speak further with Rob. Caroline arrives and talk turns to the trial. Unwittingly, Lilian comments on the revelations of Adam’s infidelity – and realises Ian has heard it all.
  • Eddie finds Will at The Bull, where Will makes his feelings about taking George poaching very clear. After the usual attempt to justify his actions, Eddie explains that he is worried that Will might not want them at 1 The Green, and this annoys Will further; does Eddie really think he would see his family homeless?
  • Adam tries again when Ian returns from work; shall they go out to dinner? He assures Ian there was nothing serious between him and Charlie. Ian responds coldly. Rob Titchener’s vitriol is at the bottom of all this. Meanwhile this is the week in which Helen must fight for her children. To Ian that is far more important than anything Adam has to say.
