  • Not every baby can boast a llama wool blanket but Ambridge’s new arrival can; no prizes for working out the donor.
  • As David once more prepares for lambing, Ed drops by to report that there is plenty of interest in a local sheep shearer. There are two-day courses in May but he can’t see his way to covering the cost plus a relief milker. David suggests that the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI) have a scheme to help farmers who want to diversify but Ed is reluctant to ‘go down that road’. David has to suppress the urge to shake him. Fortunately Ruth joins them; she agrees to help Ed later as he wrestles with the herd management software he has bought on her recommendation.
  • Glen Whitehouse has done it again – mutilated Jim’s latest article for Borchester Life. Jim regrets already having posted the next one, about Chris Carter. Anticipating that, after phoning GW, Jim’s blood pressure will be soaring, Lynda invites him to join her on a soothing walk later with Scruff. She really wants to pump him about the Liverpool trip.
  • News from Lower Loxley: Elizabeth is relieved that Freddie did well in his maths test; thanks to Ifty he seems to have turned the corner.
  • Jim is quite tight lipped about the Liverpool trip and is rescued from further interrogation when they encounter a badly injured badger. David comes by and is all for dispatching the creature to save further suffering. Lynda will not hear of it; she summons Patrick who arranges for an animal rescue charity to collect the badger. More self-restraint is needed by David.
