Matt has a plan for him and Lilian; could this be a fresh start?

Radio Times: Emma helps out, and Matt has a proposition.

Characters: , , ,
  • Although Matt is up with the lark and in good form, Lilian is going need persuading to quit her bed. A call from Jenny (yes, it really is Jenny) is just to gossip about Rob Titchener and how well he and Brian are getting on; he will be on the shoot this week. The reason for Matt’s high spirits is the prospect of participating in a big development – the conversion of a Victorian paper mill; this came up at the dinner Lilian missed. When the crumpets Matt is toasting turn into a burnt offering, he suggests adjourning to The Bull.
  • It’s time that Henry had a bit of social training and Helen finds there are some familiar faces at the playgroup – Emma and Keira. Emma manages to steer Henry away from a strop – it’s easier when they are not your own. She and Helen compare notes about living with parents and catch up on gossip, notably Kirsty being chatted up yesterday at Ambridge Organics. ‘Til next week.
  • Lilian does justice to a fine Farmhouse Breakfast at The Bull; Matt is pleased: she seemed to be off her food lately. He apologises for his mood at the weekend; he hopes Lilian knows how much she means to him and he sees this new project as one they can work on together; it could be their pension when they decide to retire. He suggests a site visit on Friday, if Lilian’s diary is clear; with a sob in her voice she confirms that it is indeed clear. Friday it is.
