Radio Times: The Grundys hope for a second chance.

Characters: , , , ,
  • Clarrie and Eddie keep watch at the bedside of the unconscious Ed. Eddie can’t forgive himself for what’s happened, but Clarrie is calm. She tells Eddie that he and Ed are two of a kind; they’re both pig-headed, and that’s the root of the problem. A penitent Eddie is forced to agree.
  • Emma seeks Will out. She’s heard from Jolene via Susan about the overdose, and is desperate to see Ed. Will advises against it, but she won’t listen.
  • Ed regains consciousness, to the relief of his parents, but he has to stay in hospital until Monday. Eddie wants Clarrie to go home and get some sleep; he wants to talk to Ed. Sensing that Eddie needs to make his peace with Ed, Clarrie goes to phone Will, but meets Emma in the corridor. She tells Emma straight out that she’s not wanted there. If necessary, Clarrie will use physical force to keep her away, and not just from Ed – from both her sons.
  • Eddie tells Ed how sorry he is for the things he said, and for what all this has done to Clarrie. He begs Ed to come home to them, and after lengthy persuasion, Ed agrees. Eddie assures him that this is what he really wants.
  • Will picks Clarrie up, but won’t go and see Ed. Clarrie tells him how she sent Emma packing, and this seems to cheer Will up. Things are much brighter for Clarrie now that Ed and Eddie have sorted things out, but they’re all going to have to do a lot of forgiving, says Clarrie. Will somehow doesn’t seem to think this includes him.
