Emma is depressed about the future with nothing to look forward to. Pip throws Toby out of Rickyard after he starts complaining about Matthew.

  • Toby is sulking because Pip didn’t return his calls over the weekend and says he was thinking of her. Pip tries to keep him work-focussed. Toby wants to make up for lost time at Rickyard Cottage. Eventually she agrees to lunch but says if they bump into Jill, he’ll have to say he’s looking for Josh.
  • Caroline is feeling mean about kicking the Grundys out but she needs vacant possession. Joe thought that once the first buyer had pulled out they wouldn’t sell after all but they most. They agree to go out for a ride.
  • Emma is offended that Caroline doesn’t think the house is clean enough and is cross that Joe has to move his ferrets. She just wants to be out of Grange Farm and settled. It’s looking like they will have to move back to Ambridge View but she wishes they had a place of their own. Ed has found a ram on line that he thinks might be interesting. Emma is struggling being fascinated. She wishes Ed spent as much time looking for a house as at sheep. Eddie suggests a picnic to cheer them all up.
  • Caroline and Oliver have got a lot going on and are very happy. Shula is clearly less happy with Alistair. They don’t seem to do much together at all and don’t have much in common. Whole days go by without a conversation. Who knows what they will do if they retire. Things certainly aren’t great at the moment. She hasn’t even bothered to ask him to go to the opera at Lower Loxley but Caroline persuades her she should.
  • When Toby comes around, Pip has actually prepared lunch. She is persuaded that other things matter more but then a call comes from Matthew which Pip has to take. When she comes back in, Toby starts making snide remarks about Matthew and calls him a loser. Pip says she doesn’t have to explain herself but Toby keeps on moaning and Pip throws him out.
  • Keira is planning her entry for the flower and produce show. She loves looking at the things Clarrie used to make and wants to stay living together. And George is unsettled. Emma can’t bear the thought the George is going to start secondary school without a home. Joe even turned down his tea in the morning. Emma almost cries, there is nothing to look forward to. No normal life. No holiday. Eddie agrees. He is struggling to find a bright side too.
