  • Half of Ambridge is off to Lord’s for the Village Cup final, including both Sid and Jolene. So who is looking after the pub, they ask – and when the answer includes Ed Grundy, Brian and David think they must be mad.
  • The other half is in The Bull, or will be soon, and Fallon and Ed are ready for them. Kenton has a crowd of smokers coming for lunch and twists their arms to reserve a table outside.
  • The Ambridge party have good seats and even Jolene thinks the atmosphere is great.
  • Back home Kenton sets a challenge – an exotic cocktail that Ed has to look up on the internet. Fallon judges this to be a wind-up and resolves to give Kenton’s party a cocktail to knock their socks off.
  • Then it all goes wrong, for Jolene at least: Sid went for drinks and has been gone far too long. David and Brian are reluctantly dispatched to the gents to look for him. Just as Jolene is getting really worried that he has collapsed somewhere, Sid is spotted talking to Mike Gatting – who smoothes her over with champagne.
  • It’s been a successful day all round and Ed feels that he could hack pub work; he and Fallon make a great team. Fallon agrees.
