Radio Times: David aims high at Brookfield.

  • David is shopping at Ambridge Organics for the final touch to the perfect surprise that he has in store for Ruth. Helen is full of her romantic evening with Ross; he was even cool about meeting her family – including her sausage king brother. In fact, Kirsty finds it hard to get her off the subject and queries whether she is running before she walks. Helen can recognise chemistry when she sees it; it’s been hard making herself go out with someone again; Kirsty should be pleased for her.
  • Ruth felt a complete idiot when a grinning Nigel collected the kids, whose overnight bags were already packed. David’s plans for the evening begin to be revealed: there’s a bath waiting with candles, bath oils and a glass of wine; the Bengal Tiger will be along soon with the king of take-aways and then a video. It could work.
  • Hayley could not resist any longer and popped into the chemist for a pregnancy test kit – but before she could use it, nature took its course. It’s early days; they will keep trying.
  • The evening has gone well for Ruth and David. They both enjoyed a soppy date movie and some reminiscences of their first impressions of each other. Ruth is delighted to find a rose on her pillow. Then it all goes wrong. David lets it slip that he had sought Sophie’s advice about the movie. Ruth is appalled that he should have discussed their private life with anyone – least of all her. Just leave me alone!
