Helen strikes again; where is this feud going to end?

Radio Times: Helen stands firm and David proves to be a life-saver.

Characters: , , , ,
  • Pat is worried about Tony: he has decided that this is the week to put the cows through a foot bath; now the small tractor won’t start. Pat notes that, after pleading tiredness at the party, Helen spent yesterday tidying the stock room at the shop.
  • Nigel tells David about the brooch he has found and about his difficulties in getting it cleaned quickly. David suggests a retired jeweller in Felpersham; he was recommended by Shula and did a good job on Ruth’s necklace.
  • Making a delivery to the shop, Tom discovers that his sister is planning to boycott Bridge Farm on New Year’s Eve because she doesn’t want to stay up until midnight. Fair enough, though they both know there is more to it than that. Dad giving her presents won’t change the way he feels. Tom at least persuades her to go to The Bull earlier in the evening.
  • On his way back from Felpersham, Nigel rings David to report that the jeweller can do the job. Then Lynda rings. There has been a disaster with Nigel’s wig; Lynda has organised a replacement but it has to be collected – from Felpersham. Nigel protests that Lizzie will be furious but resistance is futile; turn again Pargetter!
  • Tony is not really surprised about Helen’s news and he dissuades Pat from ringing her. There’s no point. Leave her be. She knows where they are.
  • Nigel was right: Lizzie was hopping mad. Of course he couldn’t blame Lynda because he had been out for ages already, visiting the jeweller. Anyway Lynda is delighted with the new wig – better than the original. On with the show; Nigel has saved the day. At least he has made one woman happy – no mean feat!
