  • Eddie is doing well in his capacity as Car Park attendant at Lower Loxley. He suggests to Nigel that he might have a free turn on the ice rink as a reward. Meanwhile the twins are incarcerated with a pile of practice entrance exam papers. No Christmas fun for them.
  • Joe is doing less well with his pony and trap rides. His only customer all morning has been Jean Harvey. He blames it all on Health and Safety legislation. Without that, he’d be at Lower Loxley making money. Clarrie commiserates and gets Joe to take her home. But the ever-resourceful Joe has a plan; he’ll make kissing boughs and sell them along with mistletoe on the Green.
  • When Clarrie arrives at Lower Loxley, Eddie wants to take her on the ice. She refuses at first, but is soon persuaded, and enjoys herself greatly. Eddie, King of the stolen Christmas tree market, is full of righteous indignation when David moans about their hay theft. How could people do that, asks Eddie.
  • Clarrie tells Joe all about her afternoon, but in mid-conversation she slips on an icy path. Kathy takes her to A and E, but the news is bad; her wrist is broken. How will she cope with work, shopping, cleaning, cooking – and the turkeys?
