  • Regretfully, Ruth tells Jennifer that she and David are too busy to attend her party. She doesn’t know about Jill but will ask. Jill pleads that she too is busy, even for one evening. Ruth notices, with some concern that Jill is limping. It’s nothing.
  • Shula is impressed that Alistair is getting to grips with new technology. A reminder arrives from Anisha about tomorrow’s X-ray training. It’s not the first and it won’t be the last. Ruth’s urgent call is a welcome distraction.
  • Jennifer tries to interest Lilian in the party but she is unenthusiastic. When Lilian jumps on a careless remark, Jennifer hastily assures her that the party is not just for Miranda. (Oh yes it is!) Is she being insensitive, holding a celebration when Tom and Kirsty are grieving over their baby? As Lilian says, life goes on. Jennifer needs a theme for the party. Lilian reminds her that the basis was the land purchase. That’s enough: she’s got it. (And we are agog to know what it is.)
  • With the Brookfield calving problem sorted, Alistair can go back to absorbing new technology; it’s not all due to Anisha but she provided the impetus. He is sure though that they need more clients to pay for all this kit. Ruth takes a call back from Carole: perhaps she could call round and get Jill to relax more. On her way!
  • Carole calls to hear the Brookfield gossip, though she quietly admits that Ruth called her. Ben is busy watching Godzilla films; she and Jill decide that maybe they should broaden his outlook towards some cinema classics.
