Jim achieves a rapprochement with Jennifer.

Radio Times: Jim tries to put things right, but Lilian struggles.

Characters: , , , , ,
  • The building work for the new dairy is impressive; Brian just hopes they can solve their staffing problems. Jennifer is more worried about Lilian; she looked dreadful yesterday. A businessman from Connecticut has been in touch via the website; he has Ambridge ancestors and Jennifer is keen to extract a donation for the organ fund.
  • The afore-mentioned Lilian is struggling; tearfully, she rings Jolene for support. She is brooding over the fact that Paul died alone. She describes how Paul got rather erratic and more controlling, so much so that she had wondered whether the relationship wasn’t turning bad. Did the stress of their relationship bring on his heart attack? Jolene assures her that it could have happened at any time: look at Sid.
  • Jennifer’s car has broken down and who should be passing but Jim, who insists on waiting with her, despite being the very last person she would like to spend time with right now. He uses the opportunity to try to repair the breach between them, with the aid of Christine’s cheese scones, a flask of coffee and a bit of flattery. He discusses Christine’s flower arrangement about the Virgin Mary and picks up some ideas for colours. Then Glen rings him and, in front of Jennifer, he turns down the idea of more articles.
  • Brian can hardly believe his eyes when Jim drops Jennifer off at Home Farm. Jim’s ploy clearly worked, especially the call from Glen Whitehouse; Jennifer no longer bears a grudge.
  • Jennifer’s ideas for her flower arrangement do not go down well with Christine (nor does Jim discussing ‘classified information’ with Jennifer).
