  • Kathy is busy but is snatching some time off; Clarrie is not busy. She explains that she has reluctantly signed on; Kathy tries to convince her that it is not a handout – if indeed she gets anything.
  • Kathy calls on Pat for coffee and an update. At least the potato harvest is going well. Pat serves cake but is not hungry herself. Kathy thinks she looks tired and she admits that things are getting on top of her; they need to ask the bank to reschedule their mortgage payments and they still have to find a way to pay Underwoods. Pat admits to being sceptical about Tom’s marketing plans. It was good to have someone listen, though Kathy feels she has not done much.
  • Joe is enjoying a golden day supervising the collection of apples from Grange Farm; Jim is helping and rather enjoying himself, not least because there is no sign of James and Leonie with their stupid questions. Clarrie is helping too and Joe suggests that he might sell Bartleby to help the finances. That’s unthinkable; Clarrie won’t allow it. Joe admits to having had the idea on the night Clarrie went missing. Clarrie is really sorry about that but she assures him she is better now.
