Pip approves of cross-breed cows; can they convince David?

Radio Times: Pip leads the way at Brookfield Farm.

  • Panic stations! Usha is hosting the fête committee meeting and she has not finished tidying up – and the doorbell heralds an early arrival; it’s Hayley.
  • Pip is showing a lot of interest in the idea of introducing cross-breed dairy cows, in place of some of the black and white ones; she recognises that they cannot keep things the same for ever. She has got a picture of a Brown Swiss from the internet and approves; so now she just has to help Ruth convince dad.
  • When Ruth arrives for the meeting, Hayley voices her misgivings about babysitting next Sunday for Ruairidh; the news that Alice is staying with Alan comes out.
  • Peggy arrives rather flustered; Jack had decided to do the washing up and flooded the kitchen floor. This year Peggy cannot manage the White Elephant stall. After the meeting she asks Alan to give her love to Alice. It seems wrong that Alice can’t talk to any of the family. Alan believes that the anger will subside and then the forgiveness can begin. Peggy hopes he is right; there is so much to forgive.
