  • Chris wakes Alice up to their last day in the cottage with breakfast in bed. They move out tomorrow. A Chinese, DVD, and an early night is their plan for the evening. Alice assures Brian they’ll leave the cottage just as they found it.
  • Ruth’s offer to pick up Pip’s make-up “left at Izzy’s” causes Pip to think on her feet. She’s then left wondering how often Ruth bumps into Izzy’s mum, Karen. Ruth tells Pip how impressed she is with the mature way Pip has faced up to the disappointment over not seeing Jude for a whole week.
  • Nic’s learning to pull Shires in the Bull. Will’s all for her little job, apparently. Brian laments the passing of the age of elegance, what with girls drinking pints these days. He quizzes David for news of the market’s relocation. David thinks the Layton Cross location may struggle with planning permission; too many well-heeled neighbours. Brian describes the strange attachment to Jim Lloyd’s Roman orgy invite; David hasn’t received his yet. It’s half academic lecture, half fashion notes.
  • David notes to Ruth how Pip has been almost civilised since Izzy’s sleepover. They owe Izzy a vote of thanks. It was nice to have a few days without the spectre of Jude in their lives.
