Radio Times: Tony prepares for a costly battle.

  • David and Ruth are busy preparing for Farm Sunday. Pip has offered to make notices, but is still in bed. Ruth thinks they should tape off a section of wetland, but David wants to leave it.
  • Eddie’s getting ready, too, but his ideas are rather less focussed than Brookfield’s. he thinks a digger display might be good, but Clarrie vetoes the idea on account of noise. That’s easily remedied, says Eddie – just play Country and Western loudly to drown out the noise of the digger.
  • Ed’s feeling sorry for himself after his encounter with Emma. He hasn’t slept well, and refuses breakfast to go back to bed. Eddie puts it down to worry over the TB. Clarrie’s missing Fallon’s help with the baking for Farm Sunday, and asks Ed where she is. Somehow Ed’s mind doesn’t seem to be on Fallon’s whereabouts, but he recovers enough to eat a cooked breakfast.
  • Tony calls at Brookfield to ask about a consultant who helped one of the Hassett Hills tenant farmers. The TFA has recommended using a consultant to help fight Matt. They also think that Matt has a strong case, which does little to lift Tony’s mood.
  • Eddie is shocked when he hears about Matt’s machinations. Ruth drops details of the consultant off. All Tony can think is that they may well lose the case, and their packhouse, and have to pay a huge consultancy bill into the bargain.
