  • It’s Roy’s last day at Grey Gables and Hayley has joined him for the farewell lunch. They congratulate Lynda on her re-election; Jill has got in too. Shame about Lilian. After Caroline has formally bid goodbye, it falls to Lynda to make the presentation; wow, it’s a home cinema system – something for the whole family to enjoy.
  • Later Lynda encounters Lilian as she checks on the renovation work at No 3 The Green. She has not come to gloat but to say how sorry she is; she would have preferred Lilian to Richard Thwaite, who beat her by 6 votes. A rather embittered Lilian accuses Lynda of rubbishing her wasteland scheme and hijacking her broadband campaign.
  • Roy is glad the celebrations are over; now he can relax and look forward to Lower Loxley. First they will celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary. Mike and Vicky will babysit Abbie but Phoebe will go to Kate. Hayley is worried about Phoebe who talks incessantly about South Africa and when (not if) she can go back there. Roy us relaxed about it: she will soon come down to earth.
  • Emma thinks that few tears will be shed over Hilary Noakes’ defeat in the election; she and Ed are not sure they would have voted for Lilian anyway, had they made it to the polling station. Ed is surprised to find that George is not at home. He doesn’t see Will’s action as just helpful to Emma; he is taking advantage of the situation. It matters a lot to Ed and he has to be dissuaded from going straight away to fetch George home, where he belongs.
