  • Shula complains to David that she has given Alistair an ultimatum: show up to the dance or else! Pip and her friends have put up miles of bunting and are ready for the bar to be set up.
  • Alistair moans a bit about being tired after a busy week. Spencer has turned up with a new girlfriend and David is worried about Pip drinking a bit too much in reaction. Jolene has to tell David that Kenton refuses to come to Brookfield; David is disappointed but understands.
  • Ian and Adam are enjoying a bit of banter until they spot Charlie – with a woman. Jolene is calling the country dances. Alistair continues to be a Moaning Minnie and he complains that he needs to eat before he can face the dancing. Ian and Adam are having a great time dancing until Adam spots Pip who is a bit for worse with the drink. Pip manages to escape Adam’s grasp but Charlie shows up and asks Adam to come with him to visit an open farm day and Adam agrees. Charlie equivocates about their arrangement when Ian turns up and asks what they are talking about.
  • David makes a speech in which he emphasizes that it was togetherness and bravery that helped Ambridge come through the flood. The villagers are even more determined to save the farm land because of the difficulties.
  • Alistair begs off early and tells Shula he will bring Auntie Christine home because she is so tired. Shula agrees but she declares she will find someone else to dance with. Pip congratulates her dad on his rousing speech. Pip commiserates with David on the absence and continued anger of Kenton. Pip confides that her excitement at returning to Brookfield has been tempered by the lack of options when it comes to farming. She doesn’t want to be patient.
  • Richard is surprised to receive a call from Shula. She would like to meet up next week at a coffee shop near the cathedral. They agree on Wednesday.
