There is a sick cow at Brookfield, an unwilling pupil at the Dower House and a major row at Lower Loxley.

Radio Times: The strain is beginning to tell at Lower Loxley and it is back to school for Lilian.

  • Matt tries to give Lilian instructions for the Market development meeting, but her mind is on James, who has just rung to say he won’t come to Ambridge for his birthday, though might come up in April. Matt is annoyed to hear that Jolene has decided not to sell The Bull, but is forced to admit that Lilian had read that situation better than he did.
  • Elizabeth is in a flat spin over the Easter fair. She refuses to delegate even routine tasks, despite Lewis’ gentle attempts at persuasion. Later she finds him emailing clients who have been waiting for Elizabeth to reply, and erupts in fury, telling Lewis very rudely that she is more than capable of managing things herself. Lewis responds with dignity, and Elizabeth apologises.
  • Eddie finds a cow scouring, and separates her from the herd. At first David is rather dismissive, but when he sees how the animal has lost condition, he admits that Eddie is right. He will ask Alistair to take a look at her.
  • Lilian is worried about the Market meeting. She can repeat what Matt has told her, but realises she has no understanding of what he is proposing. Matt tries to boost her confidence by telling her how good she is at persuading people.
  • Freddie is upset by Elizabeth’s outburst at Lewis, and asks to go to a school-friend’s house. Elizabeth wants him to stay and play board games, but Freddie insists. Elizabeth finally gives in.
