Things are looking up at Brookfield but David is slow to accept Ruth’s olive branch.

Radio Times: Ruth tries to build bridges.

Characters: , , , ,
  • Jill tells Adam that she enjoyed his wedding ceremony and is very surprised about Kenton’s proposal – but Kathy is lovely and is good for him.
  • David is trying to get off on his beef delivery round but rather grudgingly pauses to help Ruth fold a sheet. They agree that they need to get on with the children’s Christmas presents and with making Christingle’s – David intends to be at the service on Friday. Then there is another hold-up, when Jill and Adam arrive, keen to see Bert’s retirement present. Ruth’s light-hearted comment, that David is assembling it just to have a play, is not well received. He will install it while Bert is at the panto rehearsal. Jill manages to have a word with David about the importance of Pip seeing Ruth open his present; he hasn’t bought one yet but declines her help.
  • Adam and Ian find that their pictures are already on the web. Ian regrets that he has had no word from his father but at least he came – so he must love him. Adam felt he was uncomfortable with him. Since they have been invited to Home Farm for an early Christmas dinner, before Kate goes back, Ian will have a chance to build a relationship with Brian!
  • David returns to find that Ruth has already dealt with the calves, thanks to help from Pip, who seems more talkative with her mum. Ruth suggests a drink together but David pleads that he must finish assembling Bert’s present; he will have no other chance.
