Tom’s in trouble again. Pat and Tony get a rejection. Peggy’s family watch and wait.

Radio Times: Jennifer, Lilian and Tony put on a united front.

Characters: , , , , ,
  • Tony tells Tom about his visit to Peggy in hospital. She had a reasonable night, but has had to face a day of tests. Her arm and part of her face are paralysed by the stroke. Tom intends to visit later on. Meanwhile he has to see some bacon curers before Brian has another go at him.
  • Pat has further bad news; Graham Rider has just phoned to say that Borchester Land has rejected their offer on Bridge Farm. Apparently they are looking for offers closer to 1 million. Tony is predictably furious, but Tom suggests a meeting with Helen to decide on their next step.
  • Brian isn’t the only one miffed with Tom. When he tells Neil he won’t need all the weaners he had ordered, Neil moves swiftly into moaner mode. Tom gives him a hand tagging piglets, but has to endure Neil’s heavy sarcasm as he does so. In the end Neil mellows slightly, and admits that working for Brian can’t be easy. With pig prices on the up, he should be able to sell them elsewhere.
  • Pat, Jennifer and Lilian gather round Peggy’s bed, Lilian is very upset; Peggy looks so small and frail. She says Matt has been wonderful, doing his best to care for Jack, who is with them at the Dower House. Jennifer offers to stay for a while, and tells the others to go and get some rest. But they must do something about long-term care, once they know what Peggy’s recovery prospects might be.
